This crucial step ensures that our windfarm meets the requirements of the Dutch grid code, contributing to the stability and reliability of the national grid. This 3-year process involved simulating numerous of operational scenarios and system configurations in different software platforms, followed by an extensive testing regime demonstrating the wind park capabilities and stressing the integrated system to the Dutch national electricity network.
Bertz Tourgoutian, Electrical package manager at CrossWind:
"Smooth integration of renewable electricity sources, without jeopardizing system security and power quality, is only possible if there is close cooperation between windfarm developers and system operators. At CrossWind we fully understand and have embraced this fact. From the early beginnings of our project execution, we worked closely with TenneT to achieve and demonstrate that HKN offshore windfarm can respond to any deviations from the nominal voltage and frequency of the system, within agreed limits. This way we make sure the windfarm supplies uninterrupted green electricity and in parallel can support the Dutch national grid, if ever required."
A huge thank you to our dedicated team for their hard work and commitment, and our appreciation to TenneT, SGRE, Ensol (being CrossWind's consultants throughout this lengthy process) and DNV for their invaluable collaboration and support. Together, we're driving progress towards a cleaner, greener (and grid compliant) future!
