Roermond, The Netherlands – 21 December 2020. Sif Holding n.v. will manufacture 70 TP-less design monopiles (65 kton steel) for Van Oord. Van Oord is contracted by operator CrossWind for the construction of the 759 MW project Hollandse Kust Noord in The Netherlands. CrossWind is a joint venture between Shell and Eneco. Sif’s scope comprises manufacturing of the monopiles and storage at the MV2 facility in Rotterdam in 2022- 2023.
Upon receipt of the notice to proceed (NTP), Sif will start the manufacturing of the monopiles in 2022 in its two plants in The Netherlands. The Hollandse Kust Noord
project is scheduled for grid connection in 2023 with an installed capacity of 759 MW, generating at least 3.3 TWh per year, similar to almost 5% of current total electricity
consumption in The Netherlands. The entire Hollandse Kust Noord project will be realized subsidy-free. It is located some 12 miles offshore from The Netherlands, adjacent to existing wind farms Prinses Amalia and Offshore Windpark Egmond aan Zee.
